The Department of Accounting & Finance was started in the year 2015 with the aim of imparting broader financial knowledge to students. With the emergence and growth of the financial sector in India as well as globally, the need to specialize in specific domains relating to accounting and finance has increased manifold. The Department revised its syllabus under the choice based credit system, thereby emphasizing on more accounting & finance topics and papers. Students every year actively take part in various cultural and extra-curricular activities both within and outside the college and win many prizes, bringing laurels to both the department and the college. The University of Madras has authorized to add a new section in the department from the academic year 2017-18.

Eligibility for Admission

Candidates for admission to the first years of Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting & Finance) course shall be required to have passed Higher Secondary examinations conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu, or an examination accepted as equivalent thereto by the syndicate of the University of Madras.

Aggregate marks obtained in Commerce, Accountancy, Mathematics / Business Mathematics / Economics / Computer science will be considered for admission.

 

Eligibility of Award of Degree

A candidate shall eligible for the award of Degree only if he or she has undergone the prescribed course for a period of not less than three academic years, passed the examinations of all Six Semesters prescribed.

Passing Minimum:

A candidate shall be declared to have passed in each paper of the main subject of study wherever prescribed, if he/she secured not less than 40% of the marks prescribed for the examination.

Classification of successful candidates:

PART  I, II, III & IV Successful candidates passing the examination and securing the marks (i) 60% and above and (ii) 50% and above but below 60% in the aggregate shall be declared to have passed the examination in the FIRST and SECOND class respectively. All other successful candidates shall be declared to have passed the examination in the THIRD class.

Candidates who passed all the examination (Part I, II, III & IV) prescribed for the courses in the FIRST APPEARANCE  ITSELF ALONE are eligible for ranking.

Programs and Events

LucAFama, the Students’ Forum of the Department of Accounting & Finance organized its first inter-department academic event, “Quanto 2K18” on 12th March 2018. The events conducted were Debate in both Tamil & English, Adzap & Quiz. The Chief Guest for the programme was Dr. Mohamed Azeem, a proud alumnus of D.G. Vaishnav College graduated in B.Sc. Computer Science. He is now an actor by profession working in the Tamil Television Industry. Six departments from our college enthusiastically participated in the events conducted and won prizes for the same.

Knowledge Assessment of dietary pattern and lifestyle causes of polycystic ovarian syndrome pre and post. An educational awareness session among female students was conducted by Dr. C. Muthunagai, B.A.M.S on 23rd of March 2018, between 3.30 pm and 5.30 pm.

Many Students took part in Inter-college competitions organized by various colleges in city and won several awards and prizes.
