DEPARTMENT PROFILE:

 The college was founded in the year 1964.The Department of Hindi was also co founded in the same year. The combination of Hindi played a vital role in the components of the students study pattern. The Department of Hindi has achieved new heights and brought in a new flavor to the college academics. The Department of Hindi has successfully presented 12 Ph.D Degrees and 5  M.Phil degrees in the last 12 years under the guidance of Dr.H.N.Pandey (former Head of the Department). We hope to produce and present more such degrees and also hope to achieve more heights.

The Department of  Hindi,  D G Vaishnav college is a centre for Hindi learning in Chennai city. It has a glorious tradition of teaching Hindi for the last five decades. Hindi teaching and promotion of Hindi were two major issues in city like Chennai and all Hindi teachers were actively involved in the cause.

        As for us Extracurricular activities are concerned our department has “Darpan”;Hindi Association  meant for encouraging the students to take part in extra curricular activities. Students themselves conducted an intercollegiate competition every year where all the college students in Chennai will participate. The Department of  Hindi also organizes seminars and workshops on regular basis in various themes every year.

Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh is a teacher, speaker advisor, learner and researcher. He joined D G Vaishnav college on 15th July 2002. He has nearly 16 years of teaching experience. He has been awarded Ph.D in Hindi from Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha Madras in 2011.He has participated/ contributed more than 50 seminars/conferences/workshops held at state/national/ international level respectively. He has published more than 10 articles with ISBN number. From June 2012 to June 2016 he was appointed as a Head Incharge Department of Hindi for Both Shift I & Shift II. Currently he is the Head Incharge Department of Hindi Shift I. He has conducted various workshops and academic programs for students.
He is also member of the disciplinary committee, Member in examination committee, internal assessment, NAAC Visit, Autonomous Visit and Chairman of Board of Studies Hindi in D G Vaishnav college. He is also university nominee BOS MCC College Tambaram and Subject Expert, Question paper setter and evaluator of various city colleges in Chennai.
Dr. Manoj Kumar Singh is assistant Deputy Warden in SPDGD Boys Hostel and Assistant co-coordinator in IGNOU Study Centre 2501. He is a councilor and evaluator for B.A Hindi and M.A.Hindi Program in IGNOU. He has also given guest lecturers in the city colleges.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Dwivedi is working in D.G.Vaishnav college with more than 18 years of teaching experience . His area of specialization includes Hindi literature poetry, prose, journalism, translation, history of Hindi literature and research methodology. Currently he is the Head Dept. of Hindi- Shift II. He is also the member, Board of studies, Hindi for University Of Madras till 2020. He is also the examiner and question paper setter for Presidency College, Women Christian College, MOP Vaishnav College for Women, Dr. MGR University, Mother Teresa University for women, Harishchandra college, also he holds various key positions in examination board, Interview panel, subject expert,, external expert for M.Phil and Ph.D. viva in many colleges and university. He has participated/contributed in more than 200 seminars/conferences/workshops held at national/international level. He has guided 3 M.Phil. candidates for Madurai Kamaraj University, also performed poetry singing at All India Radio and Television many times. His more than 40 articles has been published in many journals and book proceeding with ISBN.

  REGULATION

  1. Eligibility for admission:

Candidates for admission to the first year (UG) shall be required to  pass matric or higher secondary with Hindi subject.

  1. Eligibility of award of degree with Hindi language:

A candidate must be pass in all semester in all paper.

IV Passing minimum

The minimum marks mandatory for passing each paper as below

B.com (hons) – 50%

Other all         – 40%

Internal marks including 2 CIA, 1 model, seminar, assignment = 40 marks

Theory & external – main semester exam 60 marks

Question (external) prepared for 100 marks of each written paper and result concluded in 60 marks
