- The College has an Examination Cell headed by Controller of Examinations. The Principal of the college is the Chief Controller, Examinations.
- The Controller of Examinations is assisted by the Deputy Controller of Examinations along with other office support.
The College adopted Credit System in 2009-2010 itself. The positive experiences of this system and its wholehearted acceptance by all the stakeholders, boosted the college to adopt the Choice-Based Credit System (CBCS) from 2013-2014 onwards.
Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) is followed with a view to equip the students with the multi- disciplinary and multi-tasking skills.

The functioning of the Controller of Examinations is totally computerized which helps in time bound conduct of examinations, declaration of results and in making the system transparent and accountable.
- Receives the Academic Council approved Regulations & Schemes of Examinations, and a copy of the Syllabi for all Programmes from the Principal.
- Receives the details of First year UG, PG and M.Phil students.
- Appoints question paper setters and receives question paper sets with key and detailed schemes of valuation.
- Conducts CIA I CIA II & CIA III Tests for all Programmes.
- Arranges for applications to End Semester Examination for all programs through students login facility.
- Announce the schedule of End Semester Examinations of all Programmes.
- Arranges to conduct the Practical Examinations, Project work including Viva voce to all required Courses.
- Receive the filled in Examination Applications from students of all the Programmes and upload the same in Exam Cell software.
- Preparing and registration of the list of candidates and the subjects, for which they appear.
- Arrangements to download Hall Ticket.
- Appoints Scrutiny Committee to scrutinize End Semester Examinations question papers.

- Conducts the End Semester Examinations after getting approval from the Chief Superintendent.
- Appoint examiners for evaluation of End Semester Examinations answer scripts.
- Dummy number generation for received answer scripts.
- Arrange for evaluation of papers.
- Organise the result passing board.
- Publishes the results, issues the Statement of Grade and Consolidated Statement of Grade to the students.
- Arranges for the revaluation of answer scripts whenever necessary or requested by the concern student.
- Arranges for conduct of instant examinations for outgoing students after the publication of final results.
- Arranges to get the Provisional Certificates and Degree Certificates from the University.
Question papers received from the setters are scrutinized by a Committee appointed for the purpose before the conduct of the End Semester Examinations.
The duties of the board are to carry out the following:
- To check whether every question paper is as per norms with regard to equal coverage of questions from each unit and conforming to RBTL.
- To check the spelling and other errors.
- To approve the question papers.
The question papers are typed, printed and copies made in the office of the COE. They are sealed and kept in the strong Room under the direct custody of the COE. The packed question papers are handed over to the Chief Superintendent for the conduct of examinations on the day of examination to be opened half an hour before the commencement of examinations.
- The answer scripts are packed and sealed immediately after the examination for the session are over and handed over to the COE.
- Evaluation is done by external/internal examiners.
- Single valuation for both UG and PG programs.
- For PG Programmes, all examiners appointed are external.
- Evaluation of practical exam is made jointly by one internal and one external examiner recommended by the Head of the Department of the concerned.
- Moderation upto 3 to 5 marks maybe given to those students who fail to secure the aggregate passing minimum of 40% and 50% in UG and PG programs respectively on the recommendation of the Board of Examiners.
- Publication of results will be done immediately after the approval of the Passing Board soon after evaluation.
- Any student can get a photocopy of the valued answer scripts by paying the Prescribed Fee.
- Any student can seek revaluation for only one current arrear paper of a particular semester. However, revaluation of previous semester paper is not allowed.
- Internal assessment is finalized only if accepted and signed for by the students.
- Instant Examination will be conducted every year during the month of June/July for those candidates who have completed their study and have not passed in only one paper.
The office of the Controller of Examinations will prepare the Examination Calendar, well before the start of the academic year, which would enable the Academic section, to plan & prepare the Academic Calendar every year. The Examination Calendar for Odd & Even semesters, Course structure for all programs was included in Student’s Hand Book.
- The absentees of the internal tests are given an opportunity by head of the department if they have valid reasons.
- Question papers for CIA courses shall be set by the respective mentor and scrutinized by the HoD & department examination committee of the respective department.
- The question papers are checked for the correctness, timing, and traits of Bloom's taxonomy including higher order thinking skills.
- Appointment of observer/squad will be decided by the Principal time to time.
- Examination for all the arrear papers (theory only) will be conducted along with regular End Semester Examinations.
- Instant examinations will be conducted for those candidates who have completed their study and have not passed in only one paper.
- End semester examination Time-Table and seating arrangements are automated.
- Receives End semester examination applications through QR code, which would easily enable the authenticity.
- Format of Answer Booklet is, with student’s photo, Subject details (Course, Subject code, Register No, date of examination).
- Randomized dummy number generation from the QR code of answer script.
- Results are declared within ten days from the last day of examination.
- The students are given an option to apply either for getting photocopy of the evaluated answering scripts or revaluation.
- When the students apply for the revaluation, the answer sheets are not evaluated by the examiner, who has done the first round of evaluation. The same would be given to a senior faculty member, who is a known subject expert, for revaluation.
- If the difference in the marks scored by the candidate by the two examiners is less than 10, then the highest mark would be awarded to the candidate.
- On the other hand, if the difference of marks awarded by the two examiners is more than 10, then the revaluation process would be allotted to a third examiner. After third evaluation, COE decision would be the final.
- The office of the COE has appointed internal squad for the prevention of malpractices in the Internal & End semester Examination.
- To make the system and process more transparent and precise, an examination manual has been brought out by the Office of COE and the same is disseminated to all the stakeholders.

- Invigilation work is a part of the duty of all teaching staff members. No change or alternate arrangement for doing the invigilation work, without the approval of the chief superintendent.
- The invigilators are requested to be present 30 minutes before the commencement of examination.
- Any incriminating materials including mobile phone are not permitted inside the hall.
- The invigilators must check the register number of the candidates in their hall tickets, on the table and in the answer book and then sign in the column provided for the invigilators.
- The invigilators must also get the signature of the candidates present in the examination hall in the sheet supplied.
- The absentees slip must be given to coordinator, half-an-hour after the starting of the examination.
- The invigilators must remain inside the hall during the examination and should not substitute others in their place during the examination session.
- The invigilators must not attend to any other work in the examination hall. They must be on the move in the examination hall and see that there is no malpractice by the student.
- Any malpractice or copying by the students must be immediately reported to the Chief Superintendent with the material and evidence.
- The invigilators must collect the answer books as and when the students complete the examination, arrange them in number-wise and hand them over to the staff-in-charge. He must wait till answer papers are checked and received by the staff-in-charge.
- The members of the staff who are availing leave in case of emergency/medical grounds during examination days are requested to inform the Chief Superintendent so that the examination work will not suffer.
- Any problem / grievances during examination may be represented to examination committee.
- Students are permitted to enter the hall only 15 minutes before the commencement of examination. They can be late to the hall only for 15 minutes from the time of commencement of examination.
- Students should keep their belongings those are not required for examination outside the hall (or) the place specified by the college authorities.
- Students are permitted to possess materials like pen, pencil, ruler, eraser, non-memory calculators (with the permission of supervisor), Hall ticket and ID card.
- Mobile phones are not permitted inside the exam hall. Possession of the same will be seriously dealt with.
- Students without Hall ticket and ID card are not permitted to write the examination. Duplicate ID card/ hall ticket may be issued on the payment of the nominal fee and attested by the head of the department.
- Malpractice, if any, such as possession of any incriminating materials including mobile phones in the examination hall and copying during the examination will be severely dealt with by imposing punishments such as cancellation of examination taken, debarring in the future examinations or even dismissal from the college.
- Students are not permitted to write anything on the question paper, hall ticket (or) anywhere in the hall except the on the answer script provided to them.
- Students should first fill up the Register number, paper code, and center code etc., given the first page.
- It is the responsibility of the students to check the intactness of their answer script before handed over the same to invigilators.
- Students are not permitted to re-enter the hall for any reasons without the prior permission of chief superintendent.
The following guidelines are issued for Central Valuation of Answer Papers for various UG & PG courses which should be followed by both the Chairman of Board of Examination and Paper Evaluators. Camp Officer is responsible for the implementation of guidelines.
- Camp Officer, Chairman of Board of Examinations, Chief examiners and Examiners are responsible for ensuring the proper conduct of paper valuation and OMR entry of mark statements.
- Valuation time: 10.00 am to 5.00 pm with a lunch break of 1 hour between 1.00pm to 2.00pm.
- Evaluators should report within 10.30 am and should remain in the hall till 4.30pm.
- Each bundle will contain 25 answer scripts and each evaluator is permitted to evaluate 2 bundles in a day.
- After completion of valuation of first bundle, the paper evaluator should enter the marks in the Foil sheet provided to them.
- Second bundle will be given only after the completion of valuation and entry of first bundle marks in the computer.
- Instruction for awarding marks:
- Marks should be written only in the space provided in the front sheet using red pen only.
- Paper evaluators are instructed not to write anything and anywhere in the manuscripts.
- Marks should be awarded according to the keys provided to them.
- Paper evaluator should mark -0- in the front sheet for a question if the candidate has written wrong/irrelevant answers.
- Box pertaining to the questions should not be left blank.
- Over writing of marks is not permitted and if happened so it should be counter signed by the chairman who has to make entry in the green pen.
- Total marks should be written in words in the space provided.
- There should not be any discrepancy between the marks written in numerical and that written in words. If any discrepancies, the marks written in words will be taken as final.
- Silence should be maintained and Mobile phones should be switched off during valuation.

- Grievances of the students such as online examination form, queries related to course codes, wrong entries in names, hall tickets etc., are addressed in stipulated time by the office of Controller of Examinations.
- The grievances regarding internal theory and practical examinations are resolved immediately by the concerned teacher and HOD of the respective department.
- Internal Examination answer scripts are shown to the students after the assessment by the concern course teachers for further clarification of the students.
- A time-bound Redressal mechanism is suggested by the COE office, as per the guidelines and rules set by Tamil Nadu State Council of Higher Education (TANSCHE).
